Typical concrete floor slab construction, with lightweight concrete block retaining wall, expanded polystyrene (EPS) to provide an insulating barrier and allow space the concrete to move (expand and contract), and a self compacting concrete (SCC) cast slab. Reinforcing the concrete with steel rebar produces a solid foundation upon which walls can be built - there is not need for additional foundations in low rise construction.

Floor slab containing underfloor heating, made with self compacting concrete (SCC) and reinforcing bars. Small cracks are likely to form during curing as a result of the concrete shrinking and water evaporation from the surface. Cross-linked high density polyethylene (XLPE) underfloor heating pipes are cast into the slab.
