Positive Plastics injection moulded sample of UPM Formi EcoAce bio-based polypropylene (bio-PP) reinforced with 50% wood fibre. This material is produced from bio-based naphtha, which is made from crude tall oil, a byproduct of the paper pulp process. The bio-composite version contains certified wood fibre (40-60%) or cellulose fibres (30-50%). Based almost entirely on renewable materials, it provides a drop-in replacement for fossil-based PP. It is recyclable and suitable for food contact applications.
